Frequently Asked Questions About This Product
Which brush do I need?
For applying wall paint, it is important to choose the right brush. The right brush ensures the latex is applied evenly, with optimal absorption and release. We believe the VP synthetic all-round brush contains the right fibres for the best result. This brush is made up of different fibres, combining traditional pig bristles with a selection of synthetic fibres.
Which roller do I need?
When using a wall paint roller, it is desirable to create a smooth and even finish. You don’t want to be picking lint out of your paintwork. Absorption and release are essential here. We recommend using the Toptex wall paint roller for working with wall paint/latex. This roller performs best in our tests. Read more about which wall paint roller to use for your project.
When should I use this product?
Sikkens Alphatex SF is suitable for protecting your interior and exterior walls. Alphatex SF is an easy-to-apply product for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. If you have newly plastered walls, we always recommend using a primer. This prevents the wall from absorbing too much paint and fills all small pores, ensuring your expensive wall paint is not absorbed into the walls.
What is the coverage per m²?
The coverage of Sikkens wall paints is 9 to 11 m² per litre. However, our experience is slightly different, as most painters achieve a coverage of 7 to 8 m² per litre with Sikkens wall paints. It’s better to have a little too much paint than too little.
In which colours can it be mixed?

Do I need a primer?
Before applying wall paint/latex, it’s essential to determine whether you need a primer. Luckily, this is easy to figure out with a simple test. Take a wet sponge and press it against the wall. If the wall absorbs the water, you’ll need a primer. If the wall does not absorb moisture, no pre-treatment is required. For more tips and insights, check out our blog about applying primer.
What is the scrub resistance of this product?

A wall paint with scrub resistance class 1 is not only highly resistant to stains but can also be cleaned without any issues. Additionally, this type of latex paint is highly durable, resistant to wear, and offers excellent coverage.
Are there alternatives?
Sikkens Alphatex IQ: The Sikkens Alphatex IQ is exactly the same product but has a different gloss level. This wall paint has a silk finish but retains all of the other great features. If you like this product but prefer a different finish, this is the alternative for you.
Relius R1 Pro: Looking for a good alternative? The Relius R1 Pro also has scrub resistance class 1 and coverage class 1. With proper preparation, just one coat is enough to fully cover a wall. Unfortunately, the R1 Pro can only be used indoors and not outdoors.
VP Extra Matt: This wall paint is part of our own brand, which we developed ourselves. This is reflected in its price. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative with the same qualities and a matte finish, this is the product for you.
