For the final gloss and appearance of the wooden surface, you should choose a suitable finishing product, such as Sikkens Cetol TGL Satin Plus or Cetol TGX Gloss systems, which are available in various gloss levels.

Step-by-step guide

To apply Sikkens Novatech primer correctly, we recommend following this step-by-step guide:

1. Preparation:

   Ensure the wooden surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, wax, and loose paint. Lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper (e.g., grit size 180-220) and remove the sanding dust.

2. Stirring:

   Stir the primer thoroughly to ensure a homogeneous consistency and to properly mix any settled pigment.

3. Application:

   Apply the primer using a synthetic brush or a short-haired microfibre roller. Work in the direction of the wood grain and spread the primer evenly over the surface.

4. Drying Time:

   Allow sufficient drying time before proceeding with the next coat or finishing products. The drying time depends on temperature and humidity, but generally, aim for a drying time of at least 16 hours at 20°C and 65% relative humidity.

5. Second Coat (if necessary):

   If a second coat of primer is required, lightly sand the surface again with fine sandpaper and remove the sanding dust. Apply the second coat as described in step 3.

6. Finishing:

   After applying the primer and allowing the correct drying time, proceed with the application of a suitable finishing product, such as Cetol TGL Satin Plus or Cetol TGX Gloss systems, following the manufacturer's instructions.

7. Cleaning:

   Clean your brushes and rollers with water and soap, rinse thoroughly, and allow them to dry before storing.

Make sure to work at a temperature between 5-30°C and a maximum relative humidity of 85% for optimal results.
