Motip Aircraft Spray Paints
The Motip Aircraft spray can is an alkyd (turpentine)-based lacquer. This sprayable lacquer is suitable for use on wood, metal, aluminium, glass, stone, and various types of plastic. However, it is very important to prepare the surface correctly. A primer must always be applied before using Motip spray paints. This can be either an alkyd (turpentine)-based or acrylic (water)-based primer. These spray paints are only available in 400 ml packaging.

What can I use Motip Aircraft Spray Paints for?
Motip Aircraft spray paints are suitable for protecting all wooden surfaces outdoors, such as doors and window frames. Because this comes in spray form, you can also use it indoors if necessary. Motip Aircraft spray paints are easy to apply as you just need to spray them.
Why should I choose alkyd-based lacquer?
For outdoor projects, alkyd lacquer is the ideal product. This type of lacquer is more resistant to weather conditions, which means it has a longer lifespan compared to water-based products.
What colours can this product be mixed into?
These spray paints come in standard colours and cannot be custom-mixed. That’s why we only sell this product in standard colours. Below is an overview of available RAL colours: RAL 9010, RAL 6009, RAL 3002, RAL 7001, RAL 5002, RAL 9001, RAL 5010, RAL 9005, RAL 8017, RAL 5011, RAL 5015, RAL 1021, RAL 6002, RAL 3000.
What finish do you recommend?
For outdoor lacquer, high gloss is the most suitable choice. High gloss lacquer has a longer lifespan. Its smooth surface makes it less prone to dirt sticking to it, and it’s also easier to clean. Gloss levels are indicated by a number. A high gloss lacquer should have a gloss rate between 60 and 90, satin gloss ranges from 30 to 60, and matt finishes should remain below 30. These values are measured by the manufacturer.
Sometimes, we recommend satin gloss lacquer. This happens when the surface isn’t completely perfect. Additionally, beginner DIYers often choose satin gloss lacquer because it hides small surface imperfections more effectively.
What primer do I need?
Primers and undercoats serve the same purpose and ensure good adhesion of the final product. They also reduce costs on absorbent surfaces by making them less absorbent, allowing more coverage per litre of paint. This results in a superior finish and saves costs.
How do I apply this product?
Sand the surface and ensure it is clean, dry, and grease-free. Cover the surrounding area. Apply a primer. Shake the can for 2 minutes before use and test-spray a sample. Use a spray distance of 25 - 30 cm and apply multiple thin layers.
