Which surfaces are suitable for VP Topcoat PU?
VP Topcoat PU can be used on various surfaces. Below is a guide for specific surfaces and preparation steps:
Rough concrete: Usage is approximately 7 m² per litre (10-litre container covers 70 m²). No primer required. Dilute the first layer 10-15%. Degrease, lightly sand, and clean the floor. Apply two layers for optimal thickness and coverage. For extremely heavy loads, apply a third transparent PU coat.
Stone: Usage is approximately 7 m² per litre (10-litre container covers 70 m²). No primer required. Similar steps to rough concrete.
Cement screed: Approximately 7 m² per litre (same as above). No primer needed.
Levelling compound: Approx. 8 m² per litre (10-litre container covers 80 m²). First layer diluted by 15%. Additional steps as above. If surface has a sealed structure, sand extra well and dilute further to improve adhesion.
Smoothed concrete: Usage of 12 m² per litre (10-litre container covers 120 m²). A primer is always required for adequate adhesion. Additional steps include degreasing, sanding, applying an epoxy primer, and two further coats.
Old paint layers: First create a test patch to check compatibility. Usage is approximately 12 m² per litre.
How much VP Topcoat PU should I use per m²?
The consumption rate depends heavily on the surface type. For general guidance:
Rough concrete: Approx. 7 m² per litre.

What brush should I use for epoxy coating?
We recommend using disposable brushes for epoxy coatings as it is not feasible to reuse them. Avoid using expensive brushes.
What paint roller should I use?
We advise using a nylon roller for epoxy coatings. These rollers ensure an even thickness and streak-free finish. Like brushes, the rollers should be discarded after use.
What is the mixing ratio for Topcoat PU?
VP Topcoat PU has a mixing ratio of 4:1, meaning 4 parts coating to 1 part hardener. For example, a 5-litre pack contains 4 litres of coating and 1 litre of hardener.
Step-by-step guide for applying VP Topcoat PU
Step 1: Check
Ensure the floor is dry. A moisture meter should read between 3% and 4%. Alternatively, tape a piece of clear plastic to the floor for 24 hours; if moisture or condensation appears, the floor is still too damp. Wait two weeks for freshly poured floors before coating. Check surface firmness by taping and peeling or attempting to cut with a utility knife.
Step 2: Preparation
The floor must be dry, clean, and free from dust and grease. Degrease with a suitable cleaner, vacuum thoroughly, and sand lightly if there are any imperfections.
Step 3: Application
Mix component A (coating) with component B (hardener) thoroughly for at least 3 minutes. Apply an initial diluted layer to penetrate the surface, followed by subsequent undiluted layers for optimal thickness. Ventilation is crucial to ensure a proper finish.
