What is bathroom paint?

Bathroom paint refers to paints that are resistant to moisture-prone areas and can prevent mould. Some of these paints can also be used to cover nicotine stains. These paints are easily washable, like the Pastolex renovation wall paint. For optimal results, apply two coats to combat all problem substances.

Measure in advance how many square metres you need to paint. Calculate this by multiplying the length by the width of your surface. Each primer covers 6m² per litre. Therefore, 10 litres of primer will cover 60 square metres. Always check if your wall is absorbent and whether you need a primer.

What types of bathroom paint are available?

There aren’t many different types of bathroom paints since they all serve a similar purpose. The goal of bathroom paint is to combat moisture and prevent mould formation.

Bathroom wall paint: Bathroom paints are intended for indoor use and are designed to finish your walls. These wall paints are always water-based (acrylic) and can be applied directly over primer or even on damp walls with stains or mould.

Washable wall paint: Washable wall paint is a special category of wall paints. Wall paints are categorised by their scrub class, ranging from 5 to 1, with class 1 being the best. If you have a scrub class 1 paint, you can easily clean your wall with a cloth without damaging the paint layer, extending the paint’s lifespan. A scrub class is determined using a machine that rubs a scouring sponge over the paint layer. The longer the layer remains intact, the higher the scrub class.
